Savon Hotel has been built as a soap
and olive oil factory in 1860’s during
the Ottoman period. The original building
was in U shape which had rooms at the
sides and a courtryard in the middle. The structure
of the building was made out of stone vaults
and arcades. This type of architectural
style was also common in cities like Gaziantep,
Urfa and Aleppo.
The factory was bought by Sehoglu family
in 1930 and contunied its operations
until early 1960’s. Since then the
building was closed until 2001. In
2001, after going through a two year
renovation, this historical building
opened its doors to the public as a beautiful
hotel.
